What causes the emotional strain between Archer and Ellen?
I'm assuming you're talking about The Age of Innocence? It would have to be love. Archer falls in love with Ellen but cannot have her due to his engagement with May. Even when he decides to pursue Ellen and leave May, he discovers May is pregnant and remains by her side, giving up Ellen for all time.

Which one of the following best expresses the concept of natural selection?
A. differential reproductive success
B. overproduction of offspring
C. inheritance of acquired characteristics
D. change in response to need
E. a drive to perfection
Which one of the following best expresses the concept of natural selection?
D is not the answer. I just got it wrong thanks.
Reply:D. Natural selection, or 'survival of the fittest' means that those species which adapt most effectively to change will survive to reproduce in greatest numbers.
Reply:I would put my money on "D".

AP COMPUTER SCIENCE QUESTIONS!!! plz help! thanks :]?
1.Which of the following is a reason 2 use an ArrayList instaed of an array?
a)arraylist allows faster acces to its kth item than an array does
b)arraylist always uses less memory than an array does
c)arraylist can store objects %26amp; an array can only store primitive types
d)arraylist resizes itself as necessary when items r added, but an array does not
e)araylist provides access 2 the # of items it sotres, but an array does not
2.Wen designing classes,which of the following would b the best reason 2 use inheritnace?
a)inheritance allows u 2 write applications tat require fewer base %26amp; super classes
b)inheritance allows the creation of a subclass tat can use the method of its superclass w/out rewriting the code 3 those methods
c)inheritance allows 4 data encapsulation,which noninherited classes do not allow 4 data encapsulation
d)inheritance reduces the # of polymorphic structures encapsulated in applications
e)inheritance guarantees tat the applications will compile %26amp; execute

Choose the best choice?
1. Which of the following wud be a good example of a parent class to Elephant?
a. Mammals
b. ZooAnimals
c. Africa
d. myFavorite
2. according to C# convention, which of the following is a proper exception error message?
a. Division by zero
b. The bank balance is negative
c. Negative balance
d. The progam attempted to divide by zero
3. Which of the following is not a benefit of using inheritance?
a. Inheritance makes writing programs easier
b. Inheritance makes program easier to understand
c. Inheritance makes methods %26amp; data available to exisiting classes
d. Inheritance makes methods %26amp; data of subclasses available to superclass
4. A subclass constructor initiates data fields
a. Specific to subclass
b. That superclass %26amp; subclass share
c. Specific to subclass
d In all of subclasses within superclass
5. When programming in C#, methods are typically
a. Private
b. Public
c. Protected
d. hidden
Choose the best choice?
1a , Mammal and not Africa since Elephants are found in Asia as well
2a : Divide by zero
3 :d
4a : Actually this question should say 'initializes' and not 'initiates'
5a : If no other access level is specified they by default take private access , Please do clarify 5 in detail, through a good C# book because these are basics and you must be clear if you are hoping to program in C# or any other programming language for that matter.

I have create a base class which will use in every class in C#.Net and ASP.Net but there is some error?
C#.Net 2
======
I have created a base class called clsCommon which will be use in every classes. I have inharited as follows.
public class otherClass:clsCommon
{
}
But here i am facing one problem that instead of inheritance of clsCommon its public function is not showing in other classes.
HOW CAN I DIRECTLY ACCESS clsCommon CLASS FUNCTION IN OTHER CLASSES WITHOUT AFFECTING PROCESS OF clsCommon CLASS FUNCTION
Thanks in advance
I have create a base class which will use in every class in C#.Net and ASP.Net but there is some error?
You need to create some type of function first like
public class otherClass:clsCommon
{
public void myFunction (int someInt)
{
this.aclsCommonFunction(); // should access the parent class function
} // end of function
}// end of class
and in the function definition you can also override the parent class' function.
