What's the inheritance tax due on a joint deposit a/c in a foreign bank in the UK.I am non-briton outside UK

My spuose passed away last week, and we have a joint deposit account in a foreign bank registered in the UK. Will I be required to pay inheritance tax on this account or not, given i am not a UK national and I do not reside in the UK.

IHT is payable by the executors of the estate where the deceased was resident in the UK. If this does not apply, then IHT will not be due.
Reply:I believe inheritance tax only "kicks-in" at about

£280,000 in the UK. The international complications

I dont know about.
Reply:From what you say you're no more liable to IHT in the UK than you are for Argentinian death duties. If you are not UK resident, and the bank account isn't in the UK why would you pay UK taxes?
Reply:This can be a complex issue.....

When you say "a foreign Bank in the UK"....What does it mean? Is the Bank actually located in the UK?

Your spouse's domicile/residency can also be important in determining tax liabilities....

Generally speaking if you are NOT a resident in the UK (regardless if you are a citizen or not) you would not be liable for UK taxes....But as I said TAX residency/domicile issues is complex....

My suggestion is to see a tax accountant if possible.
